Union Country SWCD plants Ohio Buckeye tree

Type of tree planted: Ohio Buckeye (Aesculus glabra)
Location:
Union County Agricultural Center, 18000 SR 4, Marysville, Ohio 43040
Group/Individual:
Sponsored by Union SWCD Board of Supervisors, the tree was planted by Union SWCD Wildlife Specialist John Rockenbaugh and Union SWCD Board Supervisor/NACD President Elect Steve Robinson.

The Union Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors admired Olin Sims for the innovative leadership style he provided to NACD and for his unselfish dedication to soil and water conservation districts nationwide. The Union County SWCD Board felt that planting an Ohio Buckeye tree was a small way in which they could honor Olin in their county.  They want to extend their thanks to Olin’s family for the sacrifices they made in order for Olin to be able to serve on behalf of his other family—soil and water conservation districts!
